Operation Safety Points for Gantry Cranes
1. Inspect the hook device, shackles, pulleys and slings to make sure there is no problem or damage of them.
2. Lift the heavy load slowly and smoothly to minimize or avoid the load swinging, and abrupt moves shall be avoided.
3. Gantry cranes are used for vertical lifting operations, and it is not allowed to pull the load sideways because something dangerous may happen.
4. The load shall be lifted high enough to clear the obstacles in a smooth motion, and it is forbidden to carry the load on the top of people.
5. With the proper lifting, the load can be moved to the desired position; when the crane is in position, the load should be slowly lowered to its set-down point.
6. In the lifting operation, the suspended load should not be left unattended.
7. If something emergent happens, it is required to shut off the main disconnect switch for the crane to solve the emergency.
8. Focus on what you are doing during the lifting and moving operations, and never allow yourself to be distracted whiling operating and controlling the crane.
